Oh, the house would have me tearing my hair out, if I didn't have a shaven head. Guess I could yank on my beard. It has been a year this week since we first unleashed a bulldozer on that property. Things went well, as long as our builder had control. But a few months ago we got into the sub-contractor phase, using 'specialists' for the roof, plumbing, tile, electrical, and cabinetry. Two of the subs are basically slugs. They lie about things, and don't show up when they say they will, and hold the whole project up. So just squeaking these final few tasks out so that we can move in is agonizing.

One of the people who follow our blog about the whole experience took a photo of our soon-to-be neighborhood from an American Airlines 737 as they left here two weeks ago. Ignoring the reflection in the aircraft plexi, and the poor resolution, this is what it all looked like two weeks back:

Now the driveway is basically in place, and the rest of the work is going on indoors.

Very nice pics! Have you thought that there might b so much around metal that you'll need a smaller coil for the excal?

smaller coil? Hmm....never thought of that. I got the 1000....whats that, a 10 inch coil? How far away from metal should it be before its not detecting anything? now, on this site, there is probably very little metal. At least from the ship....but I don't know that. Thats why I got an Excaliber...to determine if there is any metal there... Since its such an old wreck, we would be interested in artifacts, too. I am even thinking of taking a box of the encrusted stuff we have to get it x-rayed...if the doc will go along with it.
Yes I think that is a 10" coil. How deep it goes depends on a whole lot of stuff so hard to say. I suppose there will be nails around there? :D
I sure think you'll find metal around an old ship.

Re:the BUG....

Hey Gringo!

We found a similar bug, ded, here in CA, on a project...
and from there the story gets more interesting!

We started in on an extended project rennovating a lakeside party house owned by a family clan.
Termite damage to structural members, and shoddy and creative original construction...

Each of us, eventually became ill, didn't quite feel well, for the longest time.
As 3-4 weeks passed, the WX improved and we were able to have all doors and windows open.
Everyone got better...

But I had noticed the critters, during the first couple weeks... they were dead, out in the middle of the floor.
Bugs don't do that! They crawl off into a hole somewhere to die, and you rarely see 'em...

...Just before we got the project, the clan had conducted a big campaign and sprayed everything known to man in, and around the house, to kill bugs and spiders and such...
AND they also had exterminator guys spraying heavily!

I certainly wish I had known, prior to beginning... would have aired everything out well, before starting!

Sometimes chemicals are necessary, but they must be used with caution!

Gringo, I think I've read in a post by gulfhunter that he uses 10" coil on excalibur and always runs coil cover glued on because he actually scrubs the surface with the coil. He is a VERY active water hunter.

You may wish to try that technique if you have not...

I would be happy to keep sending photos. Do you want tropical sunset type stuff? Beaches? Underwater diving on the reef? Fishing?

Hey cool. I spent my time in New England, thanks. I still visit there, but not often.

I just ran through a few of the thousands of photos we have taken in the past three years and grabbed a few I thought might make good backgrounds or screen savers. uncluttered margins for icons, etc. If you like this kinda stuff, I got lots. And taking more every day.
sunset from Pine Cay

A coral head, just under the surface on the Caicos Bank

sunrise over Water Cay;

beach at Pine Cay

Sail Provo catamaran, off the beach at Pine Cay ( this was from remote controlled camera under a helium balloon)

got lots more. And, of course, there are hundreds on our blogsite at http://2gringos.blogspot.com/

Gringo, I just visited your website. Great stuff! Man, you have got the life. I envy your situation but glad someone can actually do what a lot of us would like to do.
