Welcome to TreasureNet Chris. These sorts of inquiries are better to post in the WhatIsIt? section: What Is It?
However I can tell you that your button is a Great Seal (of the U.S) pattern that was introduced in 1902, and is still in use. Yours has a raised rim around the edge which was added 1910, so it was made some time after that. The Horstmann backmark was used through 1947 I believe, so it would be before that. Value-wise these don't fetch much, as they are very common. (like a dollar perhaps). I hope this helps, but I'm sorry the news wasn't better. Keep digging, and we hope to see you the Today's Finds forum and the What Is It? Forum, which is a great place to learn.

thanks for your reply.i read that when the back of the button shows the abbreviated phila that means it was before horstmann sons took over the company so it could be around the 1850 to 1900 .if its the full name or horstmann and sons then it was 1900 or so.
