:notworthy: Wow, the designs on your coin are especially beautiful! :notworthy: I've yet to dig any Chinese coins, though my son has dug a couple with simpler design than yours. Andi

I've had this coin for quite a while and didn't realize I never had it dated. Any help would be appreciated.
looks similar in design to a couple coins I have, '46 and '49. I don't think it's a match but it gives you a starting point for looking. Oh and it may be Japanese

You are correct, it is Japanese. Don't know why I had it marked China. Looks to be a 1922 5 Sen coin. Thanks for the help!

I thought Chinese coins break after the first three months?! (Drum roll, symbol crash...crickets) lol. But seriously thanks for the Chinese reference. I have found a few so far and this would have definitely helped.

Cheers

That coin is 75%copper and 25%nickel. Those aren't very collectible (value is listed at about $1.50) but there is an identical 5 sen coin that is about one millimeter larger in diameter and about two grams heavier that is quite collectible. Those were issued a few years earlier (Taishyo 6-9 / 1917-1920) and are listed between $130. -$10. They overlapped in Taishyo 9 (1920) meaning they issued both the slightly larger type and the new smaller type during that year.
