I am New to Metal detecting and when i was out in the woods behind my house i dug up this old lock i did a little research but was unable to find any solid information to help date this lock. It appears to say Patent on the copper? piece. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I really don't know jack about locks, but based on others I've seen, I'm going to say 1850's. Hopefully someone else here will chime in with a better ID
