It is a cob, and it looks like a 1/2 or a 1 reale. South American mint ? (not Mexico) but I cant see anything else. Nice find.

Yes, it most certainly is. It appears to be a 1 Reale COB from the mid-1700s
Here's one that I have which shows some of your missing details.

You should try posting a higher resolution image and perhaps someone here can
ascertain the date for you if there's enough detail remaining.
Note that they only used three digits to show the date on these early COB coins so the one
I have is from 1763... hence only the 763 being visible.
