Help identifying this mineral

At first I thought it was halite, or salt, it had many clay around it and I clean it. It's very fragile. Does not dissolve in water and is kinda tasteless.

What is this?

I found it in mud, it's fragile and doesn't dissolve on water.

I wouldn't taste minerals, especially if you dont know what they are, for instance that mineral looks a lot like natural asbestos rock, probably not the best idea to ingest it. Please be careful and stay safe,

Definitely not a good idea to taste minerals. Most of mankind's most successful poisons are just ground up minerals.

Looks like an evaporite. Probably Selenite a variety of Gypsum.

It looks like it is an evaporite mineral like calcite, travertine, gypsum or something similar. It does not look like naturally forming asbestos so you are not going to die from tasting it. I have been known to lick my finger and check for salt taste when it looks like halite too.

I said looks like asbestos rock, I never said that was what it is, when I zoomed in on the piece he was crushing I thought it looked something like this. It most likely is what you guys are saying but I was more concerned with his tasting minerals

I agree with Clay diggins, A variety of Selenite or Gypsum. These things can be found in muddy, sedimentary conditions. As to tasting them, well I've licked a few rocks but generally I stick with other tests.
