It is not magnetic
It weights 17.3 grams,
Im pretty shure its silver.
Did a little research and i think a .99 silver version exists
I cant confirm mintage,
Anyone know the details?
Is this a proof strike?
Thanks.
+ would it pay to get it graded?

Technically it's a medal, not a coin. Most were copper-nickel, but some were silver. Worth their weight in silver only due to them being quite common.

I think the silver version was a different design. There is one like yours on ebay for $4.99 with free shipping.

Ive seen the one on ebay, its been there along, time i think its a trick..like he photographed a.silver and sells the nickle version, he doesnt state if its.magnetic, or weight. This one realy is .99 silver i would bet on it, i need someone to confirm if its a proof stike.

It does appear to be proof like. However, it wasn't minted by the US mint so it really doesn't matter. It's not a coin.

I feel that if it were silver, it would be marked as such.

It could be a 1st strike with new dies. That would give you the nice shiny surface which is unfortunately prone to showing marks and hairlines, and which 3rd party graders are quick to point out while taking your money.

This item is a commemorative token struck for the Joseph Howe Festival. Held annually during much of the 1970s and 1980s. Most were struck from .999 nickel. 350 were struck from .999 silver, and were marked such. This token was accepted by participating merchants in Halifax through the expiration date noted on the token.

A little internet search can yield a lot more information than I posted, so get to it, kids.

Time for a breve with extra shots.
