Hello everyone new to the forum. I went out metal detecting my second time ever the other day. Decided to stroll along my creek on the way home. Shockingly, I detected and dug up a CSA 12lb Bormann Fuse cannonball. Something I’m trying to figure out: why is there a small hole in the 5 second timing hash? I’m trying to determine if I need to have this professionally defused or if it poses no threat.

Awesome !! 6 lb'r The artillerest punched that before firing to delay explosion of the ball by 5 seconds. Upon firing it ignites at that hole and travels through a channel to the powder charge. You definitely need to have that disarmed by a professional...not the bomb squad lol

Dang, if you live through defusing, you will have the coolest ball in town,
Many congratulations.

That Bomb is the Bomb!

And his first post too. Can we get this guy an award for coolness under fire?
