Was thinking of places I could research during these cold winter days etc. Was thinking maybe the Louisiana area, lots of history down there. Not sure about the permissions for hunting national forests, state parks, blm etc. Just curious us all. Canada might be fun also.

Isn't most of Gettysburg off limits? Would think so at least with all the National historical places etc. Will look into it though.

just kidding....but it is possible to find as piece of private land???

Hawaii sucks, they dont like guys with MDs and you might even get pounded on by the locals. Plus they will mess with your rental car. Been there done that.

What kind of detecting is it in Nova scotia? Beach, forest? Etc

Some of those out of the way small towns may have never seen a metal detector. Chart you a course and hit a bunch of them. You might get really lucky!

I've not dug in Louisiana, but we have some spots here that had or still have old plantation homes and you can pretty much dig around any of the plowed fields and find stuff because they were 1,000 acre plus cotton fields. The hard part is determining who to ask, but that is what I would be trying to seek out. Find some fields in the old parts of the country and door knock. Nothing else go to a yard sell where there are older folks and ask them some places to go or people who would possibly allow you to dig on their property. I learned that you have to ask specific questions such as "do you know if there are any old schools, 1930s or older?" or people will head scratch more than remember.

Hobo, going to Kona in a few and planned on some beach hunting. Can you expound a bit on your bad experience? Any advice?
