Hello everyone! This is my first time posting here in the glass forum. In trying to figure out if a site I recently discovered will be worth while to medal detect or not. I briefly did a walk through and found this piece of glass. I do see bubbles and I'm wondering if part of the symbol rings a bell with y'all? Possibly age? I adjusted the clarity on some of the photos so y'all could see details better. The photos of the lighter green/blue glass is the actual color. Thanks!!!

Hey bbheigle,

Welcome to the Bottle & Glass department.

I see a nice ampersand, and what appears to be thick walled aqua glass that makes me think possible Hutchinson soda. So extrapolating from that, and I'm assuming this was on the surface, you've got a surface date circa 1880-1910.

What kind of other stuff was laying around? Me. I'd be scratching around some more...

Good luck.

That is so amazing how you can tell all that from a small broken piece of bottle!!! So awesome! I found a few more pieces of a broken bottle I forgotten about! I also found a axe head. We are going back today and I will post my findings (if I find anything haha). Can you tell anything from this bottle? I see bubbles but no markings. Thank you!!!!

Hey bbheigle,

You're definitely in 19th Century Glassland there. Possible whiskey cylinder base is how I see this.

I don't have a detector, but would be paying close attention to what the lay of the land is in this spot. This age of surface fragments, portends more below the sod...

We actually had some luck today! Found a copper plate (I think), a copper hollow rod of some sort, a mystery brass item and many iron relics that look industrial. I will be posting in the "What is it?" Forum ha! Thanks for your help today :)

Hello gleaner,

Could you expand on this a bit, please, because sometimes I do think I've got a case of analog eyes in a digital world... 8-)
