Hey folks. This isnt my find. A guy I know found it while renovating an old house. Looks to be an eagle and crown on the guard. I was thinking maybe Austrian or German, but I know very little about swords. Any help with origin and age would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

can't bring the picture large enough to make out the hand guard detail well enough but it resembles a British officer's pattern 1822 sword

I haven't a clue but thats some nice trim work on the house. GL on the ID.

Cool find!!

It's a 2 headed eagle with a crown above. Albanian or Russian?

Nice piece! :occasion14:

That's a nice-looking half-basket sabre in typical 1800s style but as @NOLA_Ken says, we need more pictures if you want it more reliably identified. Having it described to us is no real substitute for pictures.

In addition to the things he mentions, other important information will be the actual blade length and some pictures of the hilt-end of the blade that allow us to establish its cross sectional profile.

Cant help with the ID, but as others have said, some pictures with more detail will help someone ID it for you. Regardless, that is a great find.

That would be a freakin cool piece to display I have a ceramonial one that looks to ceramonial so I dont display it but thought about sharpening it to a razors edge LOL theres gotta be some markings by the shaft of the blade I would think on yours....Tommy

Thanks for trying guys. That was the only picture he sent, so it's all I had to work with too. I'll see if he has any other pictures. I'm sure the homeowner would want to keep it, so I dont hold much hope :(
