Here's my full grooved axe found in Colorado
Hey ya'll.... It's been a good while since I have posted anything or made any comments. Been real buisy working In Illinois contracted out by a geophysical CO. Anyway, I got a new bad a** camera, the new Canon Power Shot; I love it. I am from TX, but found this nice artifact on the edge of the Gunnison River in Colorado during my field studies. I believe I have posted this full grooved axe before but they were crap pics. I appreciate this piece because it has beautiful ancient scars caused by impact. The fractures are too cool on this metamorphic hardstone artifact. I will have to get back with you on the name of the metamorphic rock type, all I know is that it has Magnesium in it which makes it green in color and it might have Serpentine included within the rock. You can see the impact fractures along both sides clearly now thanks to a good camera. ENJOY..
