Herkimer hunt with Fossis

Today Fossis took me out to a spot to look for Herkimer Diamond crystals. He showed me a couple little beauts he found at this spot, deep in the woods by a nice little creek. It had been a while since we got to get out and 'play,' and the weather was warmer than forecasted so out we went.

So, we get down to the creek, and I brushed some leaves off of a gravel bar with my cane, and viola, beginner's luck for me! A real nice little Herkimer, the first one I found. Here's a couple pics, one next to my bic lighter, right where I found it. And another one on the side of a log with 3 others that Fossis found, mine is the one that the bullet is pointing at.

One with Fossis next to a big boulder by the side of the creek.

Another one of this really cool rock Fossis found, with these weird inclusions sticking out of it. Bizzare!

Another shot I took of this fallen log with these colorful lichen things growing all along the top of it, thought it would make a cool pic.

They're not worth a lot, I sold one the other day for $5.00, just a neat thing to look for & collect.
