Ohh yea, takes longer cooking for the big ones but definetly edible, The 100 lb'ers or less are best.

you had better cook it outside as it will smell up your kitchen so that it will be 6 months before you can go back in it. whitt459

We pig hunt out here also. Some of them get to well over 400 lbs. but, the smaller, the better. We dug a pit with the backhoe just this past weekend and we're planning on getting a pig, hopefully around 150 or so, and cooking it in the ground. The pit is 4ftW, 6ftL and 3ftD. That should handle anything we get out there. Still have to line the bottom with rocks and cut up a bunch of manzanita and oak for the fire. No hickory trees so we'll have to buy some of that stuff to add smoke flavor. I HATE having to buy wood! Hope your pig cooks up great!

Nice boar. Can't believe those tusks! Like you said, we've killed many and most of the big boars have had broken tusks.

Gotta agree with one of the posters who said it would smell up your kitchen, though. While I think that a wild sow is probably the finest eating wild game of all, the smell that cooking boar gives off will, literally, make me run outdoors. My dad and brother don't know what I'm talking about. Its too bad, because I've gone a couple of seasons without my pork chops and sausage when I've taken boars by mistake.
