You could hunt a beach with this machine, and find gold/silver jewelry, etc. but,,

it's not the best machine for it (far from it) and

it's no good for water hunting (highly not recommended as it's not a water machine).

Joelaw--Do you have a Fisher goldbug or Fisher Goldbug 2. Either way they are so sensitive and primarily designed for gold prospecting only that beach hunting with one will be a serious problem. The main problem is the black sands found in the beaches. If you research Fisher Labs in Los Banos, Ca you will see most coin detectors are made to detect a 5 to 20 megahertz(? proper term) and the Gold bugs are made to operate a 73 Megahertz. They find really fine gold. I hit a bb at nine inches to give you an idea. So the answer is no for the beach or as a coin machine because it will pick up the foil on gum wrappers and drive you nuts in a local park unless there is no trash and no hot rocks............Pondmn
