I know y’all haven’t heard from me in awhile the heat just got to be not worth it, but the good Lord gave us a 83 degree day yesterday so I put the yard work on hold and went a swinging for a hour or 2. I got a sterling cross and a 1925 wheat. Now her we are plagued with the Mardi Gras doubloons Hitting at the Silverdollar range but that was when I was green the aluminum really doesn’t go that deep but then I never got a 1924 silver one that deep. It scared the hell out of me!! Lol But it is my oldest one I ever got which makes it special. Thanks for looking IMG_0012.JPG IMG_0012.JPG .

Krewe of Carrollton- 1924 was was its first year rolling. IMG_0012.JPG IMG_0012.JPG

That's a really cool very old doubloon. A Cross is always a blessing. Nice work Truth.
My wife has her Mom's collection of different crew sets of doubloons, but only back to the 50's. Haven't seen them in years, stored away in a unit.

The Krewe of Carrollton was formed from the Seventh District Carnival Club by Oak Street merchants in 1924.[1]

The riding membership now includes over 450 people. The krewe owns its own floats, which are stored in a den on Oak Street and are often rented out to other krewes for their parades.

Update: It’s a 1984, BUT I like 1984 because the 1984 Worlds Fair was here in New Orleans. I was 14 and they had the coldest beer in town. Good memories:)

14 years old, and drinking the coldest beer in town. When I was 14, I’d just gone from Koolaid to soda pop!

Deferent in New Orleans plus my friend was 15 so he could drive to the city. New Orleans was bad for your health but what a blast. Guess that’s why I’m 17 years sober. I’m lucky New Orleans is the city that sobriety forgot about. Let the good times roll!!!

Nice job brother!! I’m glad the heat is mellowing out for you. Up here it’s perfect for the woods and cellar holes, mid 70’s and dry. I’m still waiting for the first frost so all the little bugs die off.
