Im carbibe, I live in the smallest town in Tennessee, Oakdale. Im retired Msgt from the USAF. Look forward to getting out and detecting again. Just got a letter From Oak Ridge Parks and recreation. Declining permission to hunt in the parks and sidewalk strips. He says it causes too much tuft damage and the improperly filled hole present a hazard. I know some have been wanting to hunt there and some have without permission, but i believe in doing things properly. I think the director has seen or heard of people using shovels or these other diggers to dig large plugs for a single coin. I explained most detectors try to leave the area cleaner and nicer than the found it. also sent a picture of the 6 inch flower trowel i use. dont think it will change his mind, but will keep people posted on what happens.Hope to find someone local to go with. My GF is going back home to china for 3 months on the 21. so ill have plenty of time to hunt.
