Welcome Max.........
I know this is not the advice you want but you must read the manual. I, like some other new detectorists, switched on our new machine and began searching. Not saying you won't find stuff laying on top of the sand, but what you want is probably buried.

Bottle cap, aluminum foil, nails, gold, silver whatever will show on your detector.

Which is which, how deep could it be, and how do I recover it? That is the basic instructions in your manual. Many a frustrated treasure hunter has dug a deep hole to find junk, or even worse, dig the hole and never locate anything. Some detectors will give a good signal for something as small as i BB. DAMHIKT :)

First why not drop a coin in the grass. Can you find it with your machine? Don't laugh. My yard has a lot of stuff I planted but never recovered. Read the fine manual that came with your detector. Now or later it will have to be done.

Happy hunting..............
BB
