I got fooled more than once today but still managed to get a couple wheat pennies and this little bit of gold! I almost didn't dig the ring signal because it rang up in the bottle top range on my DFX. I guess it pays to dig the iffy signals. The engraving inside the band reads "14keartcarved" but the K looks like it is overlayed with an h.
The wheats are 1952D and 1953D. I saw something else at this site today that was disheartening. There was a "For Sale" sign erected on the corner announcing a new shopping center. Looks like our hunting days here are numbered.

Very cool. It pays to spot check those iffy sigs, digging the junk sometimes leads to gold! Thanks for sharing.

The days may be numbered, but keep a close eye on it. They will scrape and do ground work before they build. I've been there and done that before. Sometimes having to hunt in the rain when they are not working lol

That is the way to get the good out when those rings are hiding along with the trash.

Congratz on the gold! You better get to digging before they haul all the goodies away when they build the mall!

Nice finds on the ring and the wheats. Hope you get to detect this area before they cover it with concrete or a building.

Nice Digs.
Every time I read a post like this it reminds me to dig everything. I'm still a rookie with just under 50 hours on first detetector. I have yet to find anything more valuable than a tungsten carbide wedding band. (returned) But, I have access to a couple of areas that seem to be loaded with clad, tabs, bottle caps, and beaver tails. I'm going to keep digging the crap with the pic you posted of the gold ring/pulltab in my head.

Thanks for a great lesson in perseverance.

I saw your thread title and KNEW it would be GOLD!!!

Gotta' love diggin' 1000 pull tabs and then finally pulling that gold. I dig them religiously no matter how boring or annoying it gets. Sooner or later that beautiful gold shows up. It's like throwing mud against a wall until some sticks.

Congrats on your persistence and a great gold score....
