We could all use a little break at the gas pumps, but don't worry. Temporary relief is coming in October/November of this year. I could not find the charts going back to 1970, but here are the last 8 years. Makes no difference who is in power, gas prices HISTORICALLY DIP during the last month leading up to and including the Presidential election month (October/November).
If you look at crude oil over the same periods -- with the exception of 2008 when some folks were threatening to "drill baby drill" --- prices seem to change with the election cycle. If the pattern holds true, we should see the lowest gas prices in 4 years beginning in October and holding until near the end of December.
