Hit a new permission today with the girlfriend got this in the field about a quarter mile away was a shipyard owned by the same owners of the field in the early 1800s thinking this is a ships spike it's huge and brass like to think it was from the shipyard any thoughts? 20171124_202110.jpg 20171124_202129.jpg

Was told could be 1790s. Shipyard started in 1780. Closed up in 1850

iT CAN BE TOUGH - easily pre 1900s - so its from at least the 1800s or earlier
but 1700s - 1800s - hard to tell sometimes - i'd be willing to say it's mid 1800s to 1700s even
shipyard near by - it can be from when they first started or from when they stopped and anywhere in between

Oh ..I did not read your follow up post with age of shipyard - read the top part and hit reply --so I was spot on with the dating late 1700s to mid 1800s
you wont get much narrower than that

I always look forward to your posts man. Thatโ€™s a cool spike and the hand wrought brass likely makes it earlier than later in that range. In that date range manufacturing went through tremendous changes. Anywho, Iโ€™m sure youโ€™re going to pull some great stuff. Good luck!
