hoping for info on this brass object

Today I was detecting around my home and found a brass handle with the letters C,S on it. I'm thinking it may be confederate knife or sword handle,but so far have not seen it online. I'll appreciate any info!

I posted the photo on Facebook and several friends identified my find as a confederate short artillery sword ! I wonder now if it has any monetary value ?!
