From the shape of it that's not a horseshoe but a muleshoe for a mule colt or filly.
The part on the end must have been welded on for some use. :icon_scratch: Perhaps to hang it. :dontknow:

Take two like that and stick a piece of wood in between them and hang it on the wall and bingo its a gun rack.

I agree with GG, probably a mule shoe, but the 'loop' at the top is definitely a mystery Shawn. :icon_scratch:

Re-purposed mule shoe...
I have a mule shoe, used as a hinge to a door, (to a barn?)
where the shoe was hammered sharp at both ends, and driven into a vertical timber,
and some wire to complete the jerry-rigged outfit.

Could also have been made as a boot remover. I've seen a lot of antique boot removers that were patterned after a horseshoe, so that square tab might have been used to mount it to the floor.
