How does White's XLT spectrum measure up?

A relative wants to sell me a used (five or six years old) Whites XLT Spectrum for $250.00. The machine is in spectacular shape and looks new it comes with a bag, one rechargeable battery, one double A holding battery, a spade, a video, and a manual. I was just wondering if anyone else had this machine, how they liked it, and if $250.00 was a good price.

Pete, I have never used it, so I can't help much, but I did do a search for "Whites XLT Spectrum reviews" on google and there are a lot of good reviews for it.

Good machine at a great price. Lots of bells and whistles on that one.

I love it, easy to use, just take the time to read the manual and use in the field.

Had Fisher 1220 and 1225x before

Re: How does White's XLT spectrum measure up?

Hi Pistol-Pete
I upgraded from the Whites 6000 Di III to the XLT and fell in love with it. I searched many of the same locations that I searched for years and the finds went through the roof. I found my first Spanish Reale (1680) my first Large Cents (1798, 1801, 1807, 1814, 1822, 1832 and a couple of slicks) my first Two Cent (1868) my first Union Breast Plate and so many Civil War items that I could not list them all here. I also found my first and only gold coin to date 1854 Type I US $1.00. I would say for $250.00 you have a real steal on your hands, I wish I could have bought mine for $250.00 in stead of the $875.00 I paid. Either way I would go for it and have fun. I wish you all the luck in the world as there are so many places to search and so much to be found. It is all good! :-)

Bleh! Terrible machine. You'd hate it. By the way, what was your relatives number? I can be in Pauls Valley in a couple hours. ;D

All kidding aside, thats a great deal on a great detector. It does take quite a bit of time to really learn though. Be patient with it.

Even if you end up not liking it and it is in good condition you could turn around and sell it and give someone else a great deal and still make money.

I got my used XLT for considerably more and folks were telling me that I got a great deal on it. I paid $390 and it was in very good condition.

That is an excellent price for such a good detector.

Thanks Guys, I bought it and glad I did already. I took it out this morning and found two coins in 15 minutes, in a area that I have hunted several times before.

You will be happy with the spectrum. If you need a manual come to Wayne's and I will give you one. We also have a book or two on it.
