I have searched 316 boxes in the last 4 months(the time I have really started keeping track of my finds)... Around box 310 I found my FIRST 1976 S Silver proof. I have yet to find a 1970s silver....

I'm not an expert, but I just recently found my first and only 1970 S silver proof. This site is showing the mintage of the 1970-S was about 2.63 million, which is actually slightly more than the 1970-D at 2.15 million. However, considering many of the 1970-S coins are probably still in the proof sets they were released in, I'd guess you are more likely to find the 1970-D in CRH.

Kennedy Half Dollars

Myself, I have never gotten a 1970-D or 1976-S. It is just the luck of the draw.

It's all luck of the draw.

Here's some of the common half dollar "clubs" (in my personal descending difficulty level to join)...no membership fee required

Seated half
Barber Half
90% silver commemorative
1955 Franklin
1970S
1970D
Foreign silver (Medio Balboa, Columbian 50C, Rupee, Canadian Half, etc)
Silver proof 40% or 90%
1976S silver proof
Clad commemoratives...including the ubiquitous Statue of Liberty Commemorative (SLC)
1976 silver circulation strike

And if you are really lucky...21D or P Walker and 38D Walker.

Good luck!

"Columbian 50 c" is American, unless you mean 50 centavos Colombia.

I had a box from Loomis and found IN 1 BOX, 4 - 1970 D, and 15 - 1967 almost uncerculated proof coins. We are thinking these were somehow dumped by one person and re-rollled into this box by loomis..

I've been going through a box of halves a week since October 2011. January 21st 2012 I found a 1970 S Silver Proof.

I've been searching boxes since October 2010, and I still haven't found either coin.

I am to the point of looking up both coins on Snopes...I am beginning to believe that they are internet myths and or urban legend.

I remember you saying you did that with dimes last year after no rolls produced. I think right after that, you got some silver dimes. Maybe this time, you will get both coins after you go on Snopes.

In a box a few weeks ago I found three 1976s uncirculated 40% silver kennedys. :happy1: The box also contained some very nice looking 40% coins, it was obviously a collection that was dumped.
