Great question/post.
I've put approximately 200hrs on my ETrac in my first year with it. Not enough, but I occasionally use other machines.
I'm surprised metal detectors don't have an hours of use "clock" internally? Kinda like generators and heavy machinery do. Obviously, even cars have odometers. Seems it would be useful if/when a detector is sold/purchased.
Thanks
GL
Peace ✌

I've had my current unit probably close to ten years I would say; last couple of years were slower, but there were quite a few where I had more hours on my detector than my job!!!
Gotta be 6-7 thousand
Keep in mind some days can be around 8 hours detecting, so not hard to rack up time. Back when time was spent swinging a lot, it wasn't hard to go 40-50 hours a week for 15 or so weeks in the year... Boy it adds up!

I would guess 5 minutes on my bounty hunter. 150 hrs on the 350, and 3 hrs on the new ATP... which, by the way, is the last machine I will ever own...well, that's what my wife tells me.:dontknow:

Maybe 3500 hrs on an ACE 250 (and still going strong) and 400+ on a Tesoro Vaquero. Neither have needed any repairs.

That's what's so cool about this hobby/lifestyle...anytime you get a new machine, ya start all over. I've got a fairly new AT Pro with less than 50 hours on her, but got well over 1000 on the Excalibur :icon_thumleft:

I have wondered this about myself. I wish my detector had a built in hour meter. My work and detecting schedule are very erratic. I have hunt a few hours one week and then hunt 40 hours the next. I do hunt every week that weather allows and have for 32 years. I have had my CTX for going on 2 years, had the E-Trac for about 5. I'm sure there are a LOT of hours on those machines.

10 hours a week is probably a conservative number which puts me at least 500 hours a year on my machine.

Began detecting last May. I had about 60 hours on on an elcheapo detector, (good enough to get me hooked on this hobby). Clocked 500 hours on the Fisher F4 last season, and I only have about 45 on the F75 LTD SE. Looking forward to a good season.
