I have said if for a long time and was laughed at by the people I worked with. They do this on purpose. Jack the price up past the point they want it at and then slowly bring it down to where they want it. by the time it gets to their target we are all like "wow, I can't beleive I'm SAVING twenty cents on a gallon of gas" When in actuallity the price is now considerably more.

I just hope we don't ease up on the drilling and alternative energy research. I mean real alternative energy not ethanol crap...

& messing with the fuel injection also.

only solution 3 months of adding fuel injector Cleaner to every tank
of gas for 3 months. and of course
avoiding Ethanol (There goes your savings)

Despite the price increases, the euro still has better purchasing power. A big part of the US increases is the dollar's loss in value. Europe's main reason for higher prices is they aren't oil producers.

I know Denmark doesn't recognize the euro (though it does circlulate, similar to the US using Canadian coins) but is your $9/gal. price a conversion from the krone?

In some countries in Europe there is no minimum wage.

In my country the minimum wage for an adult employee is $ 20.38 pr. hour.

I´m afraid that is NOT the explaination !!

As an example both Denmark and especially Norway produce more oil than they use themselves. We export oil.
Still the prices are high.
They are controlled by the international marked price + TAXES.
The main reason for high prices in Europe are high national fuel and environment (green) taxes !!!

It wouldn´t help drilling more oil.
I´m afraid it wouldn´t for the US either ??

The price is made from danish kroner yes. But that doesn´t make any difference because our currency is "locked on" to the Euro.

In Germany the Gas price is about 1.50 Euro per Litre, so I think that would also be around $ 9 pr. Gallon !!

Those things are very difficult to compare !!

You got to remember that the danish worker has to pay tax.
When taxes and so are payed he may have $ 10 - 12 left in cash !!
On the other hand he then doesn´t have to pay for health care, school for his kids and so on !!
Systems are just so different.

One thing we can say is the same: Fuel prices are extremly high now, both in the USA and in Europe !!

Well I can tell you one-third of my income is gone before I ever see it to taxes and such. So I don't know how much different that is.

But I like the United States system just fine so I won't complain too much.

I'm reading a book on economics right now.

It's got chapters on a number of socialist countries, among other things.

Sweden is right up there with the happiest place on earth, Disneyland!
They pay 75% taxes.

Right about now it's about to come crashing down around them.
I suspect it's NOT gonna be a happy place for much longer.

I dunno.
I think we get a couple of those round/flat cans of cookies each winter that come from there.

Well, I've just got to be in direct dis-agreement with the Mastereagle22...

I don't like the United States system just fine, and I'm gonna do whatever I can to convince people it's gone far wrong until it's been changed to what it was meant to be.

For the life of me I cannot justify that land and housing costs have been allowed to get so high, far beyond the reach of the average working man, when the government itself squats on millions, and millions of acres of land doing absolutely nothing with it.

Good hardworking people could have been homesteading that land over the years, working it, building homes, and providing for their families instead of being trapped in apartment buildings, or possibly worse, bound by 30 year contracts, (now 40), keeping them in debt most their lives and enriching the money lenders.

That's probably good for a start, but there are many more ills that could be resolved with a stroke of a pen.

Price of gasoline may fluctuate for quite some time, but it will never again be readily available and affordable as it once was.

This upcoming winter will be an awakening, if not worse, for any people who have not become aware of the situation, on a global scale.
