haha

Actually the sandals were a savior. I was able to secure the spoon in the strap for the trip to the hospital (was alone at the time) otherwise to would have been bouncing around.

Then again if I had proper fishing footware on.....

the trick is to have your spouse...in a case like this...my hubby....take his razor sharp knife and knick the skin where the barb is...then the thing will just fall out...ask me how I know...LOL it is a long trip to a Dr. here so we do what we do...a little turpentine on the spot...good as new. Now this is not medical advice...just what I do...

Glad you are better.

I was going to try the string and pull method, but was alone and couldn't work up the courage to yank it out.

whats funny about this is I knew I wasn't going to catch anything anyway. I just had an hour to kill before picking up the kids and this lure was probably my best chance to hook a small bluefish.

It had gotten stuck on some rocks just close to the shore and when I yanked it, it flew back in slow motion and hit me in the leg. I was surprised when I looked down and saw it embedded because there was no pain when it went in.

Be aware that many sportsmen believe only barb-less hooks should be used for this exact reason. Comparisons have been made, and the catch rate doesn't change that much without barbs.

Even some years ago, some North Woods guides prohibit clients from taking barbed hooks. This has been widely printed in sports magazines.

Take a small file and file off the barbs as soon as you buy a hook. Only takes a minute.

I was out with the Boy Scouts, when a boy without shoes stepped on a bare hook. Fortunately, we were not too far from a small hospital, but there is simply no need for this risk and suffering. Expert fishermen say the catch does not change to any noticeable degree.

I wish I had a picture of a client of ours, salmon fishing got through the cheek!
The fish was close to the boat, rolled and spit the hook. Sending a missile back at the client.

The only thing you can do is, cut the shank dnd pull it through both sides.
Or in your case, Grab and yank it out with pliers. which I have had to do a few times myself. :D :-\
