Hi all, on average: how often do you get proof coins out from boxes?

So far this year, I am averaging:

0 proof pennies out of 14 boxes searched (35,000 pennies) 0.0000 per box
1 proof nickel(1974s) out of 13 boxes searched (26,000 nickels) 0.0769 per box
1 proof dime out of 11 boxes searched (27,500 dimes) 0.0909 per box
0 proof quarters out of 1 box searched (2,000 quarters) 0.0000 per box
11 proof half dollars out of 17 boxes searched (17,000 half dollars) 0.6471 per box

What are you averaging?

no clue what my average is, because i only rim search. When I see a rim that is wider than normal and with exceptional looking reeding I will pull it and check for a proof and sometimes u can just see them because of the blinding light reflecting off of them :-)

I would say I have 18-20 or so -S- proof coins, no silver -S- unfortunately yet.

Out of at least 60k in havles searched maybe closer to 70k, and im closing in on 20k this month already, so my average isnt that great, but i'm not looking to hard either :-)

I found 1 -S- dime proof to from some CWR i got from Chase a few weeks back as well.

I only consistantly search dimes and halves... I haven't found any proof dimes, but I've found ~80 or so clad proof halves and 1 silver proof half. I had been saving them initially but started throwing them back about a month ago.

In my half boxes, I found 2 clad proofs in the first 29 boxes total, then box 30 had 5 of them.......
I keep them, but I also keep NIFC's. If I ever have loads of them, I will decide if it's worth it.

I've found 1 proof quarter in my $10K I've searched this year, but I rim search so I've most likely missed a few. I've found 1 proof Ike this year (pretty sure its clad though), and no proof nickels, dimes or pennies.

1 proof nickel (1992-S), and possibly a pretty beat up 1964 Proof..

No proof dimes, but I only rim search for silver

1 proof quarter (clad 2004-S florida).

About 5 clad proof halves
