Really dumb question needs a really great answer. I can't seem to see how to send a friend request, maybe because its 4 am not sure... Thanks.....

Click on the avatars name you want to friend.
That brings up a small box below it with four options.
Click "view profile".
That takes you to their page where below their name are options ,including add as friend ,which will take you to "add as contact" and / or "send friend request".
Send your request.
