Hello all, I am looking to buy new headphones and looking for some advice . I want a good pair, been looking at the Gray Ghost Ultimate- ( but read a review that said they are not very loud at maximum volume ? ) also Gray Ghost DMC 's . Or a good pair of Killer Bees . I am going to put them on an AT PRO and already know I will need an adapter . I plan on buying the new Whites MX Sport in the next few months. Does anyone have advice on a good pair that will last ? THANK YOU - Dennis

I used the Gray Ghost Amphibians on the Pro. They come already adapted for the Pro and are waterproof.
Light weight and comfortable. Designed to be worn all day.
Good luck on your decision.

I use Gray Ghost headphones on virtually all of my detectors. They have great fidelity, block out a lot of external noise, and are very comfortable.

Park Ranger and Pack Mule pouches by Freeloader!
I have used Sunray Gold Pro's from Bart at Big Boys Hobbies. For land detectors, they work great.
For underwater, I have the GG Amphibians from Bart as well.

The last set of grey ghosts I tried, had muffled inferior quality. So I floated that observation on a thread. A few people chimed in to concur. They've only gone downhill in the last year or two. So those people that still speak highly of them might have earlier models. I would go with killer B's.

I just ordered a DetectorPro's Black Widow Headphones from Kellyco about 4 hours ago.
They are supposed to be good for hearing Challenged .
(I have 70's Rock Concert/car Quad stereo Ears)

I tried Grey Ghosts a few years ago.
I had to Strain to hear signals, so I gave them away

OK here's the technical dope. The volume is governed by two things, the volume control of the detector and the resistance in ohms of the headphones.
The higher the ohms, the lower the volume. Mine are 8 ohm Koss headphones. The thing is the frequency spread of the detector is so narrow you don't need high priced headphones. There are headphones with amplifiers built in if you need more volume, but with more volume comes more distortion.
Now here's my disclaimer, LOL, I wear two hearing aids, so I can use them for more volume. Frank Gold hand.jpg

I'd recommend waiting at least two minutes....or till the swelling goes down enough to make a recovery.

If you are looking for a very light-weight, wear-under-your hat headphones,
check out the PHILIPS SHS5200 phones. Very reasonable priced unit.
They fit from behind the head, resting on top of your ears,
like a pair of glasses, and are slightly adjustable, too.
There is a strain-relief cord at the point the where the very friendly wire enters the phones.
1/8 inch plug.
Very cool to wear in the summer, and you can wear a sun hat with 'em, if you want.....!
I use two pairs, one detecting and one at my computer.
Consider.

HaHa yea I should have waited.
My Indigestion acted up the whole time.
I knew I should have chewed a hand full of tums on the way over.

Note to self, Don't stuff my face with A large Pork Dinner just before detecting
