I got out early this morning with Silver Slayer , Kevin , and hunted another school near the school I found the gold yesterday . This is a bad area of San Jose so we go early and get out by 11 am . This school is from the 1920's and has just one oval soccer field . The first 3 inches are fill dirt but after that it's all old . The first good target was a 1938 wheat cent at 6 inches . I found two more wheats in the next half hour , 1940 & 1941 , both at 7 inches . In the middle I was digging clad all over the place ! About an hour in I had a +76 at 1 inch , a silver ring ! It's stamped 925 and looks kind of like a spoon ring . It's number 72 for the year :headbang: . I got one more wheat at 5 inches , a 1946S and then I got a heart stopper ! I had a +90 at 6 inches . I'm thinking come on silver dollar ! When I got down to it I saw a large silver coin ! I took a picture and then pulled it out . :BangHead: :'( it was only a big aluminum token with Micheal Jordon on it ! The other heart breaker was a little heart pendent that is marked 14K MEX but is fake :BangHead: . My Son and I are going back tomorrow to see if we can find some silver coins !

I would keep that Jordan coin :)
I guess since the school is closed down it is just public property...
You have never had anyone ask what you are doing digging around there? Anybody ever try to run you off or call the cops?
Congrats on your finds Glen

The school is still open just closed for the weekend . I have hunted schools for more than 14 years and never had the police hassle me . I have had a couple of people try and tell me to leave but I'm doing nothing wrong . You can dig you just can't leave holes behind .

Must have made your heart skip a beat on that big one. Good idea to get in and out before the drunks and druggies get up!!!

I hit the exact same Jordan coin (space Jam) a few years back and thought I had a silver Dollar looking back up at me from the plug :BangHead: but its still a cool find, the silver spoon ring is unique too

You can't hunt them while school is in , only after hours and weekends . This is not true for every place . It may be different near you . Only one city here in the South Bay area is off limits due to it's city laws . That city I do not hunt in .

We hunt in the hood to, in down town Phoenix. Thats the only placw with old houses and abandoned lots. Gets a bit spooky w/ the homeless and the zombies walking around. Sometimes i'm detecting and come right upon a person sleeping it off in a bush.
