Hunting West Texas

Has anyone ever detected or rock hunted in the Hondo, Texas or Castroville, Texas area. I will be there in a few weeks and would love to treasure hunt for about 1/2 the day. (Wife will be visiting relatives)

I have. Areas are both limestone, sand and dirt. Indian artifacts pretty much everywhere. All along the Medina River in Castroville and along Seco Creek north of Hondo(road to Tarpley/Utopia. Minerals not really. Watch out for rattlers. P.M. me for questions...
