It is a sorry state of affairs if attempting to educate others is a "violation". This simply leads to many other people walking away with a belief that is incorrect. I was not trying to insult anybody, only to educate some, and let Truth know his purchase was not as good as he might have and apparently still thinks. Misinformation is like "fake news", it helps nobody, ever. I will try to be more careful in the future although I have never had any problems with postings before. Rules are rules, no matter how inane, and as a member I have agreed to abide by those of this site. I wasn't aware I may be in violation and now that I am aware I will follow Jeff's instructions. There have been many posts regarding legal hunting issues where one person states hunting is not allowed on one beach or park or another and others chime in stating that info is incorrect. Is this different than stating an object is not as advertised?

On most cases This rule is Ignored, Like above.

But it is there, just In case a Negative comment Offends.
and if a a Negative comment Offends, The offender is considered at Fault.

This rule was First created Because of Members accusing others of Not Finding what they Posted as Found.
And claiming when someone Dug a 100 + year old Silver Dollar, That it was made in China.
Even though it was Buried deep. and chasing new members off Treasurenet..

since then it has morphed to protecting members who tell their treasure found, and treasure bought stories also.

Again, it's there To protect the Easily Offended :coffee2:

I was not trying to insult anybody, only to educate some, and let Truth know his purchase was not as good as he might have and apparently still thinks. I was also hoping to help him avoid an embarrassing situation should he offer those fantasy items for sale as real since he has stated he was planning to make a profit from them. Misinformation is like "fake news", it helps nobody, ever. I will try to be more careful in the future although I have never had any problems with postings before. Is this different than stating an object is not as advertised? Heck, in the "what is it" forum folks are constantly misidentifying things and others refute those improper IDs, is that a "violation" too? I had thought one of the main ideas of this site was education, perhaps I was mistaken.

I don’t sell ANYTHING I buy or find, nor did I say that so that is fake news.

You are going to hang on to the pieces? Actually, I think I would have taken a shot at offering less than fifty cause you never know, but I think you could make a tidy profit if you sold them.
While there may be gullible people on the forum, I think most of us accepted the post as presented and reacted accordingly. There is no reason to believe Truth was being un-Truth-ful ;) And how can we identify genuine pieces from a photo? Most of us are probably ignorant in the sense of not being familiar with such items.
If I saw such items in a flea market being presented as pieces of history at a high price I would do some research before buying. I tend to believe most people would.
How do you authenticate such items? Does anyone have a link to known authentic kkk items?
Btw, I saw a site offering repro Nazi items. Anything the wanna-be Nazi Socialist could desire.
Even if these prove to be fantasy, they are interesting because they exist and there is a market for them.
Another thought: if these are modern are they reproductions of items produced decades ago? Or are they new products, which would make them "authentic"?

If you read your history books, you will find out a long time ago some very prominent politicians of the time thought being a member was a big deal.

Robert Carlyle Byrd (born Cornelius Calvin Sale Jr.; November 20, 1917 – June 28, 2010) was an American politician who served as a United States Senator from West Virginia for over 51 years, from 1959 until his death in 2010.

In the early 1940s, Byrd recruited 150 of his friends and associates to create a new chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in Sophia, West Virginia.

According to Byrd, a Klan official told him, "You have a talent for leadership, Bob ... The country needs young men like you in the leadership of the nation." Byrd later recalled, "Suddenly lights flashed in my mind! Someone important had recognized my abilities! I was only 23 or 24 years old, and the thought of a political career had never really hit me. But strike me that night, it did." Byrd became a recruiter and leader of his chapter. When it came time to elect the top officer (Exalted Cyclops) in the local Klan unit, Byrd won unanimously.

In December 1944, Byrd wrote to segregationist Mississippi Senator Theodore G. Bilbo:

I shall never fight in the armed forces with a negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.

— Robert C. Byrd, in a letter to Sen. Theodore Bilbo (D-MS), 1944
In 1946, Byrd wrote a letter to a Grand Wizard stating, "The Klan is needed today as never before, and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia and in every state in the nation." However, when running for the United States House of Representatives in 1952, he announced "After about a year, I became disinterested, quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization. During the nine years that have followed, I have never been interested in the Klan." He said he had joined the Klan because he felt it offered excitement and was anti-communist.

It is an unfortunate history but I too believe in a factual accounting of our nations history whether we agree with it or not otherwise we'll end up like Isis in the Mideast destroying history as if it never happened. Another unfortunate alliance existed between Robert Byrd and Hillary Clinton who said that Byrd was one of her greatest mentors. (If the last statement is too political feel free to omit it.)

So the Klan was alive and well in our political system until at least 2010 and let's not forget about David Duke in Louisiana.

It is a sad commentary on our political system and reminds me of a movie "Free State of Jones" It's a good watch if you've never seen it.

Of course there were other organizations with political representation in America that were just as notorious.

http://www.brianrxm.com/comdir/cnstokmed_kukluxklan.htm Funny because Mandeville is the next City over. It’s a very upscale safe city not much crime if any. In 1965 it was basically country woods until they built the causeway bridge over Lake Ponchatrain which is the longest over total water in the world. 24 miles long. IMG_0845.JPG IMG_0846.JPG

I will be the first to say I know nothing about KKK Relics or repops. $50 bucks on this score is an outrageous deal. At this price I would have bought it on the spot and investigated it later. As you are doing.
