I actually get to post under today's finds! Now I know why you do it! I'm so tickled I just want to shout it from the mountain tops!
First things first. Thank you 4x4x4! It was his thread under everything else titled " if I knew then what I know now." I shared my story and he encouraged me to hunt there.
Started off finding usual stuff, cans, pull tabs, nails and fence. Then I found an interesting farm relic that I need help identifying. Mosquitoes were tearing me up. And it's just like you all say," just one more swing!" I've been screaming ever since. My very first coin found metal detecting is an 1854(?) Dime! Woot ! Woot!

Your very first coin found metal detecting is a Seated Liberty dime?

That is absolutely amazing! It took me two seasons of hunting maybe 5 days a week to find my first Seated, and I got lucky at that. Amazing.

Thanks to all! I think it was pretty lucky. Went back out this morning and found the usual farm stuff. Yep, I caught the bug. Thanks again for looking!

Heck of a start! You got me beat. I think my first was a 1920 something penny.
