Hello all,

So I was out with my metal detector and was on my way out when I discovered my first bottle dump. The bottles were mostly all on the surface or partially buried. I cannot find any info on this one but the others seem to be early to mid 1900s. Any info on this bottle would be appreciated. Also, is the a good reference guide/book for antique bottles I should pick up? Thanks!

I'm just making a guess one of the gurus will be on I'm sure but it looks like a mid century wine bottle maybe nock a decade or two.

Thank! Relicdude, I think you are pretty close. My buddy found this online this morning. I can't confirm, but it would make sense as I found this bottle about an hour east of Detroit....

Milan Wineries Company

Milan Wineries was established in Detroit in 1944, a decade after the opening of most of the

other wineries. New vintners Charles Milan, Florence Milan and Robert Rubinstein produced

high-selling labels named Milan’s Cadillac Club, Cadillac Club Reserve, Cadillac Club DeLuxe

and Nature Boy. 86 Another label was called Lakeshore Reserve. Milan’s Cadillac Boogie Down

earned a reputation as “pop wine,” which was super sweet, inexpensive and very popular with

the “winos” during the 1930s.

*

The winery had the capacity to produce 201,000 gallons of wine. By the late 1940s, the winery’s

growth warranted a semiautomatic bottling unit.

*In 1962, Milan was the state’s biggest

producer with a production level that reached 681,138 gallons. Unfortunately, the winery closed

sometime after 1975.
