I Didn't Dig A Silver Half Dollar Today

I found it on top of the ground as I was scanning my search coil down beside a driveway. I got a high tone and a solid lock on 31 VDI reading. No question about it, a nickel.

I hit the pinpoint button and it screamed back at me telling me it was a shallow target. I checked the ID again and got a junk target reading. The 31 lock on was so good before, I decided to dig anyway. I recovered a surface nickel and scanned the spot again to see what was messing up the nickel reading.

The detector locked on to a 91 VDI reading. I moved some leaves with my foot and looked down and saw a dark round disk shaped object which I thought was going to be a big flat washer. Nope, a highly tarnished 1942 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. My fifth half dollar for the year (3 Walkers and 2 Franklin Halves. Happy Happy Happy

The 1959 Rosie was found right off this morning when I first got out of my vehicle at the first site that I went to. I didn't find another silver coin at that site. It's crazy how some similar sites will have lots of silver coins and other ones nothing at all.

This was my 49th hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 146. All done without getting skunked on a single hunt.

My F75DST detector settings: 9.0, Sensitivity 85, DE Mode, 3H Tones, Disc Level 0, GB 67.

Great find. Shame whoever had it seemed to have worked it over with baking soda.

Great find. Shame whoever had it seemed to have worked it over with baking soda.
The scratches on the dime came from me rubbing it out in the field with gritty soil. I know better, I do it sometimes anyway.

Nice find on the Walking Lib. Could you send your good luck streak up this way ?
Thanks! I've been on a lucky streak for sure.
