......or a old public park.

I’ve done even worse than an old public park. I’ve done picnic areas and barracks courtyards on multiple military bases. Talk about bottle caps, pulltabs, and foil bits.

Only a couple places I can remember digging every target. One was a pretty clean swimming spot and it paid off. The other times were usually testing/learning a new detector. The trashy places I mostly hunt these days I'm lucky to dig between 1 of 20 to 1 of 50 signals, maybe 1 of 100 or more...

Beat me to it. I wonder how long it would take to clear a cellar of all metal materials with a detector and not sifting....months? years?

Boy do I know that’s why when I hear dig every signal it would look like the whole area had been excavated. :laughing

Oh gee, when I watch that video I am SO inspired to rush out to the beach and "dig every target". haha.

Or how about going to the beach, after storm erosion has removed all the light stuff (leaving only heavy targets) ?

I'd rather dig iron out of a cellar hole than dig trash in the sand.

When I'm on sites that are more than 500 years old i usually almost dig every target cause when you get iron stuff at older areas such as roman e.t.c. you can find some quite awesome stuff!

I dug a lot of foil and pull tabs last weekend, just to see what would happen. It was frustrating and difficult, but I won’t soon forget the 2 gold rings I found. Fear not, the shovel will set you free.

It depends on were I am digging? If I am hunting in a target sparse area like a plowed field or woods I dig way more trash. I mean what's the fun of swinging the coil and not digging anything. I scoop all signals if I am water hunting. Now for a pristine yard permission i do not dig everything. I don't want to ruin my welcome and my 1st grid are coin signals. Most of my permissions I am allowed to go back often and let the yard heal before I grid it in another direction. I will chase more trash signals when I am at an proven older site.

I dig everything in tot lots & on beachs. In the trashy parks, if no body parts are protesting, i will dig almost everything, because if i dig everything....i will literally be re-sodding the park, too trashy.

I started around 1972/73 and primarily looking for Civil War stuff. Now later in life I hunt parks, kiddie lots, etc and I find it troublesome not to dig most stuff but I learning to use the discrimination more. ie; Old habits are hard to break.

I do not dig everything. At beaches I do not dig the iron or small foil. Everything else gets dug. In open fields, I dig everything but foil, but there is not much foil there. I don't like parks, so try to stay clear of them. In a known old place, it just depends. I'll start out looking for mid range targets, then after a few passes will start after the "lesser" items.
