yup thats a china marble...from the 1880s... to the 1920s or so...the more intrcate the designs the more valuable...some with buildigs and such things are called senics and sell for several thousands....one like you found with clear bright designs sell for 20$ or so...prob made in germany...

Thanks Duffy I understand from reading a lot of other posts that your the resident expert on marbles. Is there anything I can do to preserve and/or enhance the stripes ?

no dont think so...look at it with a black light...that might bring the colors out...the design looks helix.....on some glass marbles puttin them in a shot glass of water and lookin down through the top enhanses the colors....if your gonna keep it you could put the mib on a turntable and trace the colors with colored pencils lightly and see what it would look like...its glazed so anything you do to it wouldnt premeat the glaze so it would come off...

Umm one other thing just to show my ingorence on the subject.....What's a mib ?? I mean I know what your referring to but why is it called a mib ? ???

mib is another name for a marble.....origionally referred to the game of marbles...term used as a short hand version......
