I Finally Got Skunked! Silver Streak Ends At 116 Coins

April Fool!

I hit a site this morning and found a Mercury dime and a War Nickel. After a good going over I decided to move to another site that I've detecting before. On the way there I saw a guy who I met earlier in the year while out detecting, Steve, standing out in his front yard.

He asked me where I was going and I told him to site down the road to detect. He said why don't you detect the house across the street? He said the lady who owns it is in a nursing home and he's looking after the house for her. I told him that sounds great, if he'll go over there with me, because the neighbors don't know me.

The front yard wasn't all that big, maybe 30 x 50 feet. Wow, I started popping coins just about everywhere that I swung my search coil. I ended up at this site finding 9 silver coins and 17 wheat pennies. With the 2 at the other site gives me 11 silver coins for the day. Not bad for 3 1/2 hours of detecting.

This was my 41st hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 127. All done without getting skunked on a single hunt.

My F75DST detector settings: 9.0, Sensitivity 85, DE Mode, 3H Tones, Disc Level 5, GB 67.

That's a fabulous silver streak! What is it now, 127 coins? Hat's off to you sir - way to go!

Some war nickels can ID as pulltabs - I dug one a while back that indicated as a "Zinc cent" - you just never know with those 35% silver coins sometimes!

Thanks! Yep, you're are correct. I do remember getting a zinc penny reading and popping a war nickel. It had me scratching my head. It's rare but it does happen. You need to get back to Memphis soon.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to get skunked sooner or later. When I do, I'm going to get back to doing some serious gold ring hunting. This streak is kind of a burden.
