i found a eagle button,need info

found this today while looking along a river bank.has the name sam'l starkey and london on back.found in s.jersey.thanks for any info.

Agreed!

As previously posted in "What Is It?", it's a U.S. Navy uniform button from the latter half of the 1800's. There is some disagreement as to whether it dates from the Civil War period or is slightly postwar.
