The dirt here has turned to concrete so I decided to detect the shore of a small fishing pond in a public park. The lack of rain has exposed some of the lake bed and it is wet and mucky. First three hits I got were all wheat pennies at least 75 yrs old, By now I'm up to my ankles in muckyness but three out of three hits were wheat pennies.
So i suck my feet out of the lake bed a few more times and Bing! It's quarter hit. Sounds like a quarter hit, reads a perfect quarter hit, so I start poking around in the muck and sure enough I see the bright glint of a silver quarter's rim shining through the glop and took a picture.. Woo hoo!
Then I clean it off a little...
Another Shell Oil game token...they usually signal like zinc pennies but this one hits just like a silver quarter, even in an air test..such are the mysteries of what's in the ground I guess...I hate these things!
