Hello Fellow Forum Friendlies, I have just now returned from 6 glorious days of CRHing. I drove thru 13 states(Texas,Arkansas,Mississippi,Alabama,Georgia,South Carolina,North Carolina,Virginia,West Virginia,Kentucky,Ohio,
Tennessee, and Indiana for 30 minutes to visit a casino). We drove 3450 miles and searched over 25,000 half dollars
while driving. Our take for the 6 days was just over 800-40%ers,75-90%ers,6 Benjamins, and oddly 9 of those gold-plated (1960-1980) overstamped halves in one roll. I have been working on my opening speech for the tellers. Here is what I have come up with so far.
"Good Morning/Afternoon, I was wondering if you,the other tellers, or the bank have any half-dollars. I appreciate your offer for the "Gold Dollars", but I am really looking for half dollars. How many would I like you ask, all of them would be nice, no matter how many or how few that would be. Yes I am serious,I will take 4 boxes if you have them. I am terribly sorry but I am new in town and don't have an account with your bank but I am looking for a new bank " These are just some of the long list of useless questions asked everytime I ask for halves.

Have fun out there. Cheers, Jim

Schramm, I am lucky enough to live in the area which has a ton of banks all trying to get business. One in particular(Century Bank) is open 7 days and they go to extremes to get and keep business. They have free to anyone coin sorting machines and they don't mind our big dumps. It took 42 minutes for the machine to count 25,000 coins. It dumps them into $1000 clear bags and the bank doesn't charge for the bags. We had 13 $1000 bags lined up on the floor and they ended up locking them in the manager's office because the vault was full. Thanks, Jim

Louisiana ? Where's that ?

It is not that I ignore Louisiana,it is a matter of respect for another Silver Shark's Turf. I have been within 25 miles of LJs home looking for silver. When the tellers say"There is a very nice lady who cleaned us out" you tend to move on. The girl is tough competition but fair. Thanks, Jim

I get that around here from time to time too, except for the "very nice lady" part. But the competition obviously doesn't get 'em all of them, since I still find some silver halves around. Best of luck on your next road trip.

Thanks for explaining Jim.I truly envy you hunters back east/south.You have such accomodating banks that make it so much easier to do "business",I am lucky if I can find a bank that has any halves that are not returns from another hunter(some tellers let me know if they are from a silver hunter-most won't-and I don't find out until I get home and see all the marked coins).

And then there are other tellers who say the rolls have been back there a long time and when I open them I find them marked and some dated with dates as recent as a few weeks ago ::)Yes,there are hunters near me who date mark their coins, and by the wide number of dates, they obviously search a LOT of coins.800 40%er's is amazing :o.
