I have a little time to waste today, and a little extra money. Go to one of my branch banks, they never have anything, but they know what I look for. Teller says I have $28 in loose halves, I’ll take them all. She says, look, there’s even a silver one, oh it’s only a “67”. I say, it’s still a 40% silver, and I’ll take just that one....she stops and looks at me and was like, wait a minute....I start laughing and tell her I’ll take them all. After a few minutes of talking I head over to another bank that always has searched halves. Well I have the extra cash and time, I take $200 and ask them to at least grab the unmarked ones and then the marked ones. Marked ones nothing, a few of the other rolls have a few silvers and if I see they have 3 or more, I set them to the side. Here they are.

3 40’s but a nice looking “65”, love that rim.

6 40’s with a nice “66” and “67”
And the last roll......

Look at those rims, 2 40’s, 3 90’s and the rest of those rims.....Walking Liberty’s. 8 of them, next to a solid roll, this is my best roll. Named her The “Walking” Dead “Roll”!

For a total of 15 40’s, 3 90’s, 8 Walkers, from $228.

Thanks!

Nice finds, but educating tellers about 40% never ends well...

I agree, even though I stress I am a coin collector working of filling my books with newer coins post 2001 and explain they were not released for circulation and that I am also working on the early dates also my teller is starting to realize there is something more. He snagged a silver dime when they were re-wrapping rolls.

I guess it is like hunting, it is the chase and the occasional silver. Also where else can you get all your money back if you don't hit anything? At the casino with the slots you only get money back if you win, you don't get it back if you don't.

Great score there ! I never tire of seeing those Walking Liberty halfs .

I am still basking in my finding two solid rolls of Walkers 7 years ago! I have them in separate coin tubes to keep them separate from other coins and finds and look at them at least once a week!

I educate some tellers, it has taken years of talking and building that reputation with certain tellers. I don’t go to every bank and educate every teller.

I went back to the bank where I got the Walkers from, I knew they had more rolls, the teller said there were about 10 more marked rolls. I just didn’t have the cash to buy them all the first time. So with extra cash I decided to just go buy what was left, even if it was marked rolls, I could still move them out of there. They had 16 rolls, only 5 were marked, and I was hoping it was a good sign. It was, found 2 “64’s” and 7 40% in those 11 rolls.
