This last month was my first month detecting and so far i have found three wheat pennys 18,19, & 20, a tootsie car, half of a pocket watch from 1883, a silver thimble, a rear sight for a rifle, lots of clad, an ax head, an old coal shovel, and so much junk. I've got the bug for sure. All of this was found in my yard in michigan. The house was built in 1834ish.

Nice. Doesn't hurt to have old property to hunt right off the bat.

Stick a fork in yourself, your done! You will never "see" things the same again, you will always be sizing up the "digging" potential of every old place you see. Welcome and congrats on some nice finds.

Thank you everyone. I look all over now thinking what might be there? My next step is to do some research to find out more about the house that used to be on the land I guess it was the first one in the area. Also the first post office for around here is still standing in my back yard but I need to know more about how it was laid out and traversed.
