I thought it was a token and destroyed it I should say! I couldn't read what it was without my loop which was in my truck. I noticed it had a small crack in it and rather than wait till I got to the truck, I tried to bend it to see if it was silver. That's when it broke in two. That's right, an 1852 three cent piece. Tell me it's a counterfeit so I feel better! It's not like I ever broke a dime in two with my finger's before! I can't believe how small it is for a US coin. I also found an 1855 large cent which made me feel a little better. I glued it back together and put it in a jacket so I can at least say I found a three cent piece before. Good Hunting.

Given the circumstances, a little glue on a 3 cent piece never hurt anyone, congrats on your great hunt!

Absolutely a fake Trime. Couldn't possibly break one in two with your bare hands. No way! Nope couldn't be.

There.

Feel better! ;)

In any case, still excellent finds! WTG!

A little bittersweet but still a great find. I'm still looking for that particular coin myself.

Too bad on the 3 center, still an awesome find and great to hang on to! Oddly enough, I just found my first 3 cent tonight as well and it, too, was an 1852! Headbang: Nice LC also! Thanks for sharing and HH

Two posted in one day is highly unusual indeed.
A scarcely dug coin.
Probably only broke as was already nearly cut in half. I wouldn't feel to bad, mine is holed, and I still consider it a good find.
Congrats crossing that one off.

It's real.........the first three years they were only 75% silver, thus they are brittle & break easily......I broke two badly bent ones trying to straighten before I found out they were NOT 90% silver..........lesson learned!:BangHead:

hey it happens to the best of us, our excitement makes us do things we otherwise wouldn't, still a super awesome coin regardless of the crack or not

Congrats!
