So a year or so ago, I asked a guy about the empty lot next to his house...he said he owns it, no I can't. Yesterday, same guy was having a yard sale, but he was no where to be found, his wife and her girlfriends were running the show, so I asked the lady in charge...Yes! Haha sweet.:laughing7:

First target, I find hundred year old dime, that didn't have my initial on it...I would prove it by showing a pic of the reverse, but I scratched it, and you all would rank on me...

Slow going for a few hours, oddball crap and trash, then I got on the coin....wheats and memorials mostly....then a deep mess, 3 cents piled on each other....is that a...yes! Indian!
1905.... pretty smoked, but I'll take it.

I call "last target".... Which took a while, the trash pouring out of the ground wasn't acceptable.
Finally, a deep quarter I was feeling good about was my ticket out of there.....WOW!!!

This ain't a quarter! The root of the matter...it's a beauty!:headbang:

The treasures...

And my other stuff... image.jpeg

I can't wait to get this ring cleaned up, and sized for my wife....I'm thinking this is old, like art-deco 1920's.....
This is my best ring find ever.

Thanks for looking!:hello:

Very nice finds and nice moves on the permission! Is that ring silver with a ruby and pearl?

Gotta be silver, haven't tested it yet....and no marks. She is old. Probably ruby, or garnet?...stones are hard for me to ID, cuz I don't find enough to be familiar with them...the other is translucent, don't think it's a pearl.

There could be a mark, tied up under/within the root...haven't pried it apart yet.

Very nice ring, that is so cool. Be sure to share it with us once you clean it up.

I'd love to see what kind of marks are on the inside.

Your first initial as a mint mark... B, would that be from the Boston mint?

Nice finds and ring. It looks southwestern/Native American in design. I'd guess the stones are probably garnet and mother of pearl or moonstone. Personally, I think it dates closer to the 1960's but that's just my opinion. :icon_thumright:

My wife said the same exact thing....but said 1970's.
I'm trying to convince myself that it's older and more elaborate and valuable...so I can be awesome.

Permission in who permission, it all depends on who you ask. :icon_thumright: I have gotten the Okay from the wife and before I can get away the husband get's involved and veto's the deal and have had them go the other way. Nice bunch of finds Dave and congrats on your best dug ring. :occasion14:

Keep the ring in the root! Neat display item!

That quote from Friedrich Von Hayek nails it! ...This is why we have all those crappy zinc cents and clad coins!

Really nice looking Merc and ring! Congrats!
Ring maybe older, i would think if its from the 60's or 70's it would have markings of some kind.

I am with diggummup, southwestern native piece (the feather gives it away), from the 40's - 70's. A lot of it isn't marked but is definitely silver. The white stone is likely mother of pearl.

I am wondering if the woman told her husband about giving you permission to hunt.

Does it matter?
She probably didn't tell him how hot I looked hunting for treasure.
