Well we started the hunt right around 8:45 and we planned on hunting 'till late, but right around 3:30 we all agreed that the torrid pace was getting to us all, and besides we all did great. Spencer wanted to go see the Indians play tonight too...so we left right around 4pm.
Spencer was the first to strike silver with a War Nickle and he ended up with__ wheats...
Bob and I will aggregate the totals tomorrow for wheats and mems, but today we hit silver nice too.
I dug a worn (but dated) 1927 SLQ and a ??Merc (will be including the Merc in with the prize wheats)
I'll let Bob and Nate post here with descriptions of their silver finds, but you can see for yourself in the pics the quantity.
Enjoy the pics....and to those that guessed the totals already(contest is posted in General Discussion), you can change your guess by editing your post after seeing these pics if you like. We'll post the cutoff time tomorrow, but if I remember right Bob placed it at Monday morning. The coins are dirty enough so that you cannot accurately guess the number or breakdown of wheats to mems from the pics. It is clear that some foilks guessing so far have not done any research on past wheat finds at the Iceberg ;D

After only two hours digging we took this pic of all our coins on our gloves.

Bob and I will discuss the breakdown and such tomorrow for prizes, but remember, ALL wheats and some silver will be given away (no one's getting my SLQ..sorry...it's my first that actually has a date! ;))

Re: Iceberg Wheat contest post-hunt pictures are up! Great day at the 'Berg!!

Looks like you guys had a GREAT DAY!!! Gary and I can't get into our Happy trails site, not until fall anyway. Man you guys really hit a great spot for silver.

How are the bugs over your way? The darn deer flies over here can carry a guy away.

Are you sure you guys don't need some extra help? LOL

I'll be at Treasure week, July 14 & 15, incase you guys get tired of hunting the Berg.

HH, Ringfinder

P.S. I had a 100 coin day Sunday! no silver, but did find one wheatie.

Goldfish - the fourth picture is a picture of all our finds combined for the day. We just have them in separate piles(Dan and Spencer have one pile).

No, no, ALL the coins, one BIG pile, three BIG piles, it doesn't matter, I just wanna see it all at once(I'll bask in your glory if you do it).

Goldfish-that's what Mirage is telling you! The forth picture IS of ALL the coins dug Saturday.
BTW, it's 9am and the contest is now closed. Check the contest post in General Discussion for results!

In case you don't want to see all the contest results...the bottom line

329 Wheat pennies.

I also had a 200+ coin day. ;D Too bad most were pennies. ::)

I think Goldfish is talking about all of the silver found at the Berg TO DATE. Assembling such a pic would be impossible...for me at least...all of mine are already mixed in with the others I have found over the years. All we know are the numbers. But yes, that would be an awesome pic!

Welcome to the forum, Jill in Ohia. You must have a relation to one of the Berg gang. Send my regards to, Nate. That dude sure can dig those Wheats.
