Help ID the item on the left. Found last night amongst whole points, broken points and flakes. It is intentionally shaped. In the photo shown the center is raised, the sides have been knapped to form a circle. The reverse is flat, with a rounded rim. Randolph Co. WV

If you could post more pictures of both sides it might help, but right now it just looks like a rock, not an artifact.

From the only picture posted it appears to be a natural rock, no signs in picture posted of being worked.

If asking about a potential artifact members should always post multiple in focus pictures of all sides. From the only picture posted there is nothing in picture that says artifact other than the broken tip of a point. Need in focus close up pictures of both sides including the edges.

Well in lieu of a weird rock, here are the good things we’ve found in that field!

While there are a few genuine points in picture most are natural rocks.

🤣🤣 good one.
I'm sorry, I know it is disappointing, many are not artifacts, just rocks, there are a couple field grade points, several broken pieces, rest are natural.

I think 95 is harsh I see plenty of possible tips And bases and brokes and some points or near points. The hang up is working from one picture again. Multiple pics would help but I know that’s a lot to post at once.

lol every piece pictured is a finished blade with the exception of two preforms. This group is not very informed. Arrowheads aren’t some commodity grade quality blah blah. It’s the fact the someone made this anywhere from 1000-8000 years ago and I just plucked it from a field. 43 in 10 trips. Numerous hematite tools, drills, different styles, different ages. Amongst numerous burial mounds, one of which was excavated in the 60’s where they documented identical points. I might not have much experience with native tools, but I do know arrowheads. Thanks though, I understand there’s only so much you can see through a picture.

Many of them are broken. Doesn’t make them any less desirable, that’s just my opinion. These were separated from the three mason jars of flakes I recovered.

I agree with you they all contain information about a place. I wasn’t saying brokes aren’t worth anything I just thought 95% rocks was harsh.

I do see the 4 places it appears to be flaked radially (either naturally or by man).
Could have been used to serve some purpose. Someone’s hand more than likely handled that stone at some point prior to you picking it up. We will never know.
