If I cheat a bit, I could say "hat trick".

Hope everyone's 4th was a happy & safe one. I wanted to get out for a couple/4 hours to do my own celebration of freedom. But, I was concerned. I had gone out 2 days in a row in unbearable heat. So, off I went figuring to just quit when it got too hot. My goodness!!! It was SUCH a beautiful day!! Except feeling like I was in a wind tunnel, it was just perfect!

The day, the finds, the weather! It stayed interesting all day, (about 4-5 hours).

Just a large school grounds but that was ok.

I said, huh!?!?

First thing I saw was lots of rays! ;)

Some sort of picture holding thingy. The back is really shiny. Maybe silver?

Even a couple "fireworks" for me.
This one is a fave find. You see, I picked on a particularly high traffic, high trash area that I knew about. I wanted to
test my technique. The detector sounded like a machine gun in my headphones! But, I listened closely, got a good 86-90
hit and it was this ring.

Now, I know it's not worth anything :

Obvious plating issues but it is marked. ;) Maybe it's plated on top of .925? LOL

A little later on and in another well traveled area, bingo!
This one was a little better.

Blingie and crew is happy.

2014 (541).jpg

Stereo! LOL

That's three "rings" right? Hat trick?

Wonderful day all the way around!
Hope your fourth was as happy.

Thanks for stopping by!

Looks like was a fun outing! Need to have one of those out here, but got to figure out some new site or something, still rain has to come first it is way to dry for digging here. Having trouble pulling grass / weeds from the garden even. Hoe has problems penetrating soil, like concrete!

I don't believe I have ever seen Blingie with that big of a grin! You did well!
My detector would call that large one a "ring" since my detector is the expert when we are afield, I'd say yes hat trick! 3 "rings"!
The first ring is probably .925 silver plated w/white gold, that would make sense!

You really hauled in the quarters!
I got most of my quarters next to the sidewalk.

Going out Sunday again, we had a soaking rain yesterday so things are looking good! I have hopes of finding "goodies"! I am sooo excited!

Well, I'm no jeweler but all my acid testing of the plated ring appears to show silver. As MsBeepBeep says, maybe gold plated. It is stamped 925 but it has a couple other things stamped there too. :dontknow:

Anyway, thought I'd update the thread. Looks like 2 good rings. :)

That is a pretty ring and I bet mine would've really been pretty when new.

I was pretty much resigned to it just being one more plated ring until you mentioned it might be gold plated silver.
My testing confirms your theory but only at 14kt plating. It did make it easier to test. Shook off a couple flakes of the
plating and tested. :)

But, this ring means more to me than it's intrinsic value. For you see, it was found in a veritable trash pit! AND...it wasn't just seeing a higher VDI
that did the trick. There were signals all around, above and below this one and yet, ATP sniffed it out. Was pretty surprising even on the quarters too. Some of those came up as low as 65! Due to the interference of the junk around them. I am really like my new technique. LOL

Thanks!
